| Summary, etc. | D’après les sources écrites antiques, Épigonos de Pergame était le sculpteur pergaménien le plus influent de la fin du iiie s. av. J.-C. Il est présenté comme bronzier et apparemment aussi comme sculpteur. Il a travaillé pour le compte du roi Attale Ier et peut-être encore pour Eumène II. Parmi ses œuvres, encore très appréciées à l’époque impériale romaine, figure la statue d’un tubicen (joueur de trompette). L’a. examine ici pour la première fois d’une manière détaillée un petit bronze du début de l’époque impériale, découvert à Montdidier (Somme) en 1830 et acquis par le Louvre, qu’il a depuis un certain temps déjà identifié comme tubicen. La figure du tubicen s’inspire d’un modèle hellénistique offrant plusieurs angles de vue et pourrait représenter une réplique en format réduit du tubicen d’Épigonos de Pergame, qui appartenait vraisemblablement à la scène de combat contre les Gaulois (galatomachie) de la grande donation attalide. |

| Summary, etc. | According to ancient sources, Epigonos of Pergamon was the most influent Pergamenian sculptor of the late 3rd c. BC. He was known as a sculptor working with bronze, and probably also with stone. He worked for king Attalos I, and perhaps also for Eumenes II. Among his works, which were still valued in Imperial times, was the statue of a tubicen (a trumpet player). The a. presents here for the first time in details a small bronze from the early Imperial period that he identified as a tubicen. This bronze, discovered at Montdidier (Somme) in 1830 and bought by the Louvre, was inspired from a Hellenistic model that could be looked at from different angles. It could correspond to a small-size replica of Epigonos of Pergamon’s tubicen, which probably belonged to the Great Attalid ex-voto’s battle scene against the Gauls ( Galatomachia). |
