| Summary, etc. | Balzac, secrétaire de l’Histoire et de « son » histoire, réussit au travers de son œuvre multiple à élaborer sa propre investigation analytique. Des œuvres presque concomitantes révèlent au lecteur les structures de lectures transversales. Du Grand Propriétaire de 1835 à Ecce Homo de 1836, la mise en évidence d’un château d’Azay-le-Rideau, palimpseste dans le premier, et en position axiale bien qu’illusoire dans le second, permet d’éclairer une figure de grand propriétaire dans ce qu’il faut bien appeler un château de famille. |

| Summary, etc. | As the Secretary of History as well as of his own history, Balzac succeeded in developing his own analytical investigation throughout his plethoric œuvre. A number of practically contemporaneous works help show his readers how lateral readings are structured. In both Le Grand Propriétaire of 1835 – where it acts as a palimpsest – and in Ecce Homo of 1836 – where it has a significant but illusory role – the château of Azay-le-Rideau illuminates the figure of a major estate-owner in what we have to acknowledge is a family château. |
