| Summary, etc. | Résumé La notion d’identité narrative forgée par Paul Ricœur connaît une grande faveur actuellement en sciences humaines, où elle apparaît comme une alternative idéale permettant à la fois d’échapper aux théories essentialistes du sujet et de faire l’économie de leur déconstruction. Nous examinons ici la genèse de cette notion dans la lecture que fait Ricœur de Heidegger et dans sa mobilisation du Tournant pragmatique comme miroir de la Kehre heideggérienne. Nous explicitons ensuite l’historicité qu’elle implique et nous établissons en synthèse la différence, souvent sous-estimée, entre le sujet narratif propre à Ricœur et le mode de subjectivation chez Foucault. Enfin, nous analysons l’usage en abyme que Ricœur fait de l’identité narrative dans sa lecture de Proust, en réponse à celle de Deleuze. Il n’y a donc peut-être pas d’échappatoire à l’aporie que relève Plotin relativement au sujet en formation : substance permanente ou métamorphoses de l’être en devenir. |

| Summary, etc. | The notion of narrative identity minted by Paul Ricœur is largely favoured today for social sciences as it appears as an ideal alternative eluding the essentialist theories of the subject, while also rendering their deconstruction unnecessary. We examine here the genesis of this notion through Ricœur’s reading of Heidegger and his mobilisation of the pragmatic Turn as a mirror to the Heideggerian Kehre. We proceed to explain the historicity it implies and in our synthesis we establish the often underestimated difference between Ricœur’s (distinctive) narrative subject and modes of subjectivation in Foucault’s work. We finally analyse Ricœur’s mise en abyme of narrative identity in his reading of Proust, in response to Deleuze’s. There may not be any way out of the aporia noted by Plotin concerning the subject in formation : permanent substance or metamorphoses of the self in the making. |
