| Summary, etc. |
| 520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
| Summary, etc. | German Romanticism often focused on childhood and the formation of man. This study supports the hypothesis that far from being anecdotal, if one abandons the caricatured vision that is still being disseminated, this focus on the child fulfills a prominent epistemological function. Through the analysis of Philipp Otto Runge’s total artistic project and the reading of Jean Paul Richter’s first training novel, Die unsichtbare Loge, this study shows that the relationship to childhood is the source of our inability to attain completion and completeness, and thus structures a relationship to the world oscillating between truth and that childhood carries. |
