| Summary, etc. | Formulées au tout début du XXe siècle et mises en œuvre à partir de 1919 avec la fondation de l’ école libre Waldorf de Stuttgart, les idées éducatives de Rudolph Steiner sont largement méconnues en France, où elles sont le plus souvent associées au mouvement de l’éducation nouvelle, aux côtés de Montessori ou de Freinet. Ce prisme de lecture escamote cependant la métaphysique qui fonde cette pédagogie et dont ne peuvent être tout à fait dissociées les pratiques qu’elle autorise. Cet article étudiera la conception steinerienne de l’enfant en prenant au sérieux son rapport avec l’anthroposophie. Tenir l’enfance pour une réincarnation, est-ce reconnaître en elle une sagesse spécifique, ou reconduire un projet d’assagissement du sujet de l’éducation ? |

| Summary, etc. | Rudolph Steiner’s ideas concerning education were expressed at the very beginning of the 20th century and, in 1919, put into practice when Stuttgarts free Waldorf school was founded. These ideas remain unrecognized in France, and are often linked with the progressive education movement, beside figures such as Montessori or Freinet. However, this association ignores the metaphysics founding Steiner’s pedagogy, a metaphysic that cannot be separated from its practices. This article will study the steinerian conception of the child by taking seriously his relationship with anthroposophy. Does the idea of childhood as reincarnation recognize a specific wisdom in the child or does it attempt to tame it? |
