| 520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
| Summary, etc. |
| 520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
| Summary, etc. | This article is the result of an ethnographic survey conducted in three local agencies during which we observed the implementation of the Youth Guarantee scheme. This is a social and professional integration scheme for young people considered as « neither in employment, nor in training, nor in studies » with very limited resources. The institutional criteria used to consider a « positive exit » from the Youth Guarantee relate to employment and only to employment. The survey conducted encourages us to adopt an alternative reading based on the observed paths. We were particularly interested in the different reasons why some young people managed to take ownership of the system and how it enabled them to « stand on their own feet ». What is the success of these young people based on? What resources do they have at their disposal? Our approach to these « young people who make it » interprets their point of departure as the product of the encounter between two elements: a proposition made by an social institution institutional which is by nature a collective entity and the social characteristics of each young person put to the test in their biographical trajectory. |
