| 520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
| Summary, etc. |
| 520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
| Summary, etc. | This article explores the vulnerable person’s consent and the ethical approach to improve its deliberate and informed expression. With the presentation of a few etymological considerations and based on the thinking of Aristotle, Kant and Mill, the purpose is to offer a conceptual framework for institutions who wish to engage in thinking about their practice. Consent is a decision, assent is the personal implication on the singular path leading to it. Both consent and assent should be appreciated together, an idea that can be supported by Aristotlelian’s thinking (in his theory of action), by Kant (who conceived action as an expression of the will), and by John Stuart Mill who defines the stages of thought that lead to determining what constitutes legitimate constraint. |
