| Summary, etc. | Secteur économique mondialisé ou exception culturelle ? À la fin du XIXe siècle, deux thèmes sont développés dans les milieux agricoles allemands : le protectionnisme et la défense de la petite propriété, qui semblent prouver l’inadaptation de l’agriculture au nouveau contexte – mondialisé – de l’économie. L’étude de ces thèmes montre cependant qu’ils ne sont pas le produit d’un quelconque archaïsme de l’agriculture, mais bien plutôt le fruit d’une stratégie économique de modernisation et d’adaptation à ces conditions nouvelles. |

| Summary, etc. | Secteur économique mondialisé ou exception culturelle ? At the end of the XIXth century, protectionism and the survival of smallholders were the main concerns of German agriculture. This can be seen as proof of the failure of this sector to adapt to the burgeoning context of economic globalization. This study aims to show however that the choices that were then made were not the result of agricultural archaism, but rather of an economic strategy of modernisation and a willingness to adapt to these new conditions. |
