| Summary, etc. | Dans cet article, l’auteur cherche à présenter certains aspects de la littérature de l’écrivain mozambicain Mia Couto, à partir d’une métonymie fragmentée, à savoir une de ses nouvelles, Nas Águas do Tempo (1994), publiée dans Estórias Abensonhadas, en 1994. Les aspects observés et analysés sont pris en considération sous l’angle du langage des œuvres de Mia Couto, résumé par la pédagogie de la tradition et la poétisation des mythes. L’auteur cherche à montrer que l’écriture de M.C. requiert une double activité herméneutique : celle qui se charge de dévoiler des significations que le texte lui-même, par nature littéraire, dissémine de manière oblique, et celle qui révèle la sémantique inscrite de manière cryptée dans les mailles mythiques du Mozambique. Il s’agit ici surtout de présenter au lecteur la résistance culturelle que la littérature « coutienne » effectue grâce à la récupération des traditions. Pour cela, cependant, il est essentiel de distinguer ce qui est discours pertinent pour l’auteur et ce qui est discours véhiculant le référent, de séparer ce qui, dans le langage, est métaphore et ce que les villages, avec leur manière mystique de ressentir le monde, élaborent comme mythe. |

| Summary, etc. | The aim of this article is to present certain aspects of the writing of Mozambique author Mia Couto, using one of his short stories, Nas Águas do Tempo published in Estórias Abensonhadas in 1994, as a metonymical starting point. The aspects observed and analysed will be considered through the prism of Mia Couto’s use of language, which can be summed up as handing down traditions and poeticising myths. The author of the article wants to show that Mia Couto’s writing calls for a doubly hermeneutic activity: first, meanings obliquely disseminated throughout the text (because of its literary nature) are to be discovered; then the semantics encoded within the web of Mozambique’s myths are to be revealed. But what the article especially intends to show is the cultural resistance enacted in Couto’s works by his use of traditions. This implies, however, making a distinction between two types of discourse – one that is characteristic of Couto, and the other that carries the referent – and separating the metaphors from the myths created in different villages, with their mystic relation to the world. |

| Summary, etc. | O presente artigo visa apresentar algumas marcas da literatura do escritor moçambicano Mia Couto a partir de uma atomizada metonímia – seu conto “Nas Águas do Tempo”, do livro Estórias Abensonhadas, de 1994. As marcas que observamos e analisamos são consideradas sob o ângulo da linguagem de suas obras, cifrada pela pedagogia da tradição e pela poetização dos mitos. Dessa forma, pretendemos mostrar que sua escrita necessita de uma dupla atividade hermenêutica: a que se encarrega de desvendar sentidos que o próprio texto, por sua natureza literária, de forma oblíqua dissemina, e aquela que revela a semântica criptografada das malhas míticas de Moçambique. Apresentar ao leitor a resistência cultural que a literatura coutiana realiza pela recuperação das tradições é, certamente, nosso objetivo central. Para isso, contudo, é essencial distinguir o que é discurso pertinente ao autor e o discurso que veicula o referente. Ou seja, separar o que, na linguagem, é metáfora e o que as aldeias, em sua sensibilidade mística do mundo, elaboram como mito. |
