| Summary, etc. | RésuméÀ partir de l’étude du concept de plasticité, découvert dans la pensée de Hegel et qui signifie à la fois la réception et la prise de forme, on tente de caractériser ici le gothique comme la « forme » du siècle. Par forme, il faut entendre ici « ce qui donne forme au siècle », comme une sorte de moule symbolique et conceptuel, mais aussi comme « ce que le siècle forme » : l’esprit du temps si l’on veut, son outil herméneutique privilégié, son schème moteur. On se demande également, à partir de là, ce que signifie une telle forme lorsqu’elle demande à être reconnue, appréhendée comme motif historique directeur d’un temps et d’une culture donnés. |

| Summary, etc. | From the study of the concept of plasticity, discovered in Hegel’s works and which means both the reception and the taking of form, the author tries here to characterize the gothic as the « form » of the century. By form, one must understand « what gives form to the century », as a sort of symbolic and conceptual mould, as well as « what the century forms » : in other words the spirit of the time, its favourite hermeneutic tool, the mainspring of its design. One also wonders what such a form signifies when it wants to be recognized, understood as a historical pattern, driving force of a certain time and culture. |
