| Summary, etc. | RésuméAlors que les circonstances politiques le placent dans l’impossibilité matérielle de construire, le futur architecte néo-classique Karl Friedrich Schinkel réalise dans les années 1806-1813 des peintures et des transparents qui contribuent à l’invention d’une architecture nationale capable de réunir les arts et le peuple en une communauté. Nombre de ces images présentent des cathédrales réelles, hybrides ou imaginaires, de nouveaux procédés techniques concourant à leur efficacité (dimensions, éclairage, transparence, musique et figurines animées.) Elles attachent la question du néo-gothique à celle d’un nouveau régime d’historicité reliant christianisme et modernité, comme au rôle du sentiment dans la perception artistique. Elles débouchent sur les projets architecturaux néo-gothiques de Schinkel et son investissement dans les débats entourant la reconstruction de la cathédrale de Cologne. |

| Summary, etc. | While the political circumstances made it materially impossible for him to build, the future neo-classical architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel achieved, between 1806-1813, paintings and transparent films which contributed to the invention of a national architecture aiming at reuniting art and people in one community. A number of these images present real, hybrid or imaginary cathedrals, new techniques improving their efficiency (dimensions, lighting, transparency, music and animated figurines). They connect the question of the neo-gothic to a new regime of historicity linking Christianism and modernity, as well as to the role of sentiment in artistic perception. They open up on Schinkel’s neo-gothic architectural projects and his investment in the debates concerning the cathedral of Cologne. |
