| Summary, etc. | RésuméLes références à l’architecture gothique sont multiples tout au long du xixe siècle ; sous différentes formes et avec des contenus variés : représentation et mimétisme, dans l’architecture religieuse ; rationalisme de l’art de bâtir dans l’architecture civile et industrielle ; gothique polémique, porteur d’une vérité, avec le naturalisme de l’art décoratif gothique – une des sources du répertoire ornemental de l’Art nouveau. Au xxe siècle, la référence au gothique est actualisée par la mise au point d’une architecture en béton armé, reçue avec emphase par l’Église catholique, qui y trouve la réponse attendue à l’horizon d’attente d’un art sacré contemporain. |

| Summary, etc. | References to the gothic architecture are numerous throughout the 19 th century ; under different forms and with varied contents : representation and mimicry, in religious architecture ; rationalism of the art of construction in civilian and industrial architecture ; controversial gothic, carrier of a truth, with the naturalism of the gothic decorative art – one of the sources of the ornamental repertoire of Art Nouveau. During the 20 th century, the reference to the gothic style is updated by the engineering of an architecture using reinforced concrete, received with emphasis by the Catholic church, who finds here an answer to their expectations of a contemporary form of sacred art. |
