Summary, etc. It is estimated that about 5% of French children have some sort of oral or written language disability. Research on the outcomes for children with language disabilities shows that early identification helps reduce social problems in later life. Recommendations stress the need for early identification and intervention before school learning begins, as well as the importance of better information for school staff. Recent studies have also sought to determine whether signs of language disorders are present in the early stages of language development. The issues raised by the prevention of language disabilities led a center for early medicosocial action (CAMSP) to create a program for child professionals and parents to raise awareness of language development and delays in this development. The aim of the project was to provide better information for those who spend time with young children, and to enable treatment at the earliest possible stage.
