| Summary, etc. | RésuméL’article rend compte des étapes de la transformation sociale de l’Italie : un long et difficile après-guerre ; un « miracle économique » entre la fin des années 1950 et le début des années 1960, qui a eu un impact particulier en raison du faible niveau initial et qui a connu des processus inédits d’industrialisation, de scolarisation de masse et, de manière générale, de modernisation ; enfin, la phase caractérisée par le mouvement étudiant de 1968 et par l’intense mobilisation ouvrière de 1969 qui se prolongent dans les années suivantes et s’étendent à de nombreuses couches de la société. Les années 1980 sont marquées par la dissolution du modèle fordiste dans le domaine économique et par un changement plus en profondeur des mentalités et des comportements : abandon croissant des modèles collectifs et prévalence de formes individuelles d’affirmation et de promotion sociale, dans l’indifférence ou au mépris de l’intérêt général. L’article tente en outre de mettre en relation ces processus avec les différentes phases du conflit politique ainsi qu’avec une histoire longue. Il souligne finalement l’absence d’une orientation générale dans la transformation de l’Italie. |

| Summary, etc. | This article deals with the stages of social transformation in Italy: a long and difficult post war; an “economic miracle” between the late 1950s and the early 1960s, which had a particular impact because of the low initial level that then went through unknown processes of industrialization, mass schooling, and in general, modernization; finally, the phase characterized by the 1968 student movement and the intense 1969 worker mobilization that continued in the following years stretching into many levels of society. The 1980s were marked by the dissolution of the fordist model in the economic field and by a deeper change in mentalities and behaviors: collective models were abandoned and individual forms of affirmation and social promotion came into being without any concern for the general interest. The article also tries to relate these processes to the different phases of political conflict as well as with a long history. Lastly, it stresses the absence of a general orientation in the transformation of Italy. |
