Summary, etc. Our study focuses the impact of congenital blindness on the first interactions between mother and child, the development of linguistic precursors and early pragmatic skills and the emergence of language during a child’s early years. After a review of the literature, we present the assessments made on a mother and blind child dyad. We used test and parental questionnaires (IFDC and Evalo BB) and we filmed mother and child when the child was in his 24th and 27th month. Our results show a delay in the appearance of the child’s first words and also demonstrate that blindness has an influence on at least one of the formal, semantic, and pragmatic precursors. The interaction of mother and child is also affected by this early disability.
