| Summary, etc. | À partir d’observations effectuées lors de séjours d’hospitalisation pour des adultes obèses et d’entretiens biographiques menés avec certains de ces patients, cet article appréhende les modalités médicales de la socialisation sportive et ses effets sur l’évolution des rapports des patients à l’activité physique. L’analyse montre que, d’une part, si la médicalisation de l’obésité a contribué à améliorer le statut de l’activité physique dans les propositions thérapeutiques, elle en a également façonné les usages. D’autre part, les patients adhèrent d’autant plus difficilement à ces offres institutionnelles qu’elles sont éloignées de leurs dispositions. En effet, leur engagement n’est pas durable. |

| Summary, etc. | Based on a study in hospital stays for obese adults and interviews with some of them, this paper deals with sport and institutional socialization, and its consequences on the relationship between the patients and physical activity. On the on hand, the analysis shows that the medicalization of obesity has helped to improve the role of physical activity in therapeutic suggestions ; it has also shaped its social uses. On the other hand, patients relate to those institutional suggestions in a rather difficult way – as long as it is far from their dispositions. Indeed, their commitment cannot last. |
