On assiste à la réactivation de cultes traditionnels (dont le vodun) et à l’introduction de mouvements religieux issus de contextes très différents. L’article étudie le contexte (« miracle ivoirien »), les modalités (individualisation des croyances, bricolage syncrétique) et les raisons de l’implantation du mouvement Sukyo Mahikari, inspiré du shinto, fondé au Japon en 1959 par un officier de l’armée impériale, qui a trouvé une audience peu prévisible dans les populations urbaines africaines. |

| Summary, etc. | From Islam to ShintoismIn African countries previously dominated by Islam or Christianity, religious practices are diversifying. We are witnessing the revival of traditional religions (including Vodun) and the introduction of religious movements from very different religious backgrounds. This article examines the context (the “Ivorian miracle”), the forms (individualized beliefs, syncretic bricolage), and the reasons for the establishment of the Sukyo Mahikari movement, inspired by Shintoism, founded in Japan in 1959 by an officer of the imperial army. African urban populations have constituted an unexpected audience for Sukyo Mahikari’s teachings. |
