| Summary, etc. | Résumé Dans l’histoire des sociétés rurales, le développement de l’agriculture irriguée est relativement peu traité. Cet article est consacré à l’un des terroirs irrigués anciens du sud-est de la France. Comme le réseau fonctionne encore aujourd’hui, on peut s’interroger sur la permanence et le renouvellement des techniques hydrauliques et des institutions régissant son fonctionnement. En analysant les archives historiques locales et départementales, on établit une continuité historique et on relève des successions de crises et de réformes. Les parties en conflit font toujours références aux textes fondateurs comme des ressources politiques justifiant leurs actions ou revendications. |

| Summary, etc. | In the history of rural societies, the development of the irrigated agriculture is a relatively little-studied topic. This article analyzes one of the oldest irrigated territories of the Southeast of France. Since the system is still in use today, we can raise the issue of the premanence and renewal of the hydraulic techniques, and of the institutions which govern its operations. By analyzing départementales and local archives, we can construct a historical continuity and track a succession of crises and reforms. Parties in conflict have always made reference to the founding texts, using them as political resources justifying their actions or claims. |
