| Summary, etc. | RésuméL’horizon des villages de la France du xviii e siècle est-il ouvert ou fermé ? Ce problème, récemment réveillé par des prises de position contradictoires, est ici soulevé à travers les mutations foncières qui sont, malgré la relative faiblesse de leur fréquence, l’occasion d’une mise en relation entre un vendeur et un acquéreur. Un premier niveau d’analyse rend compte de l’existence d’un tissu cellulaire corseté dans les limites du voisinage à l’intérieur duquel les relations intra-parentales sont primordiales. Pour autant, par-delà cet horizon de la quotidienneté, les acteurs du monde rural côtoyaient aussi les bourgeois des villes et brisaient même le carcan villageois en rencontrant des hommes issus de villes éloignées, françaises et étrangères. |

| Summary, etc. | Was the social horizon of xviiith-century French villages open or closed ? This problem was raised again by recent historiography, and is tackled here through the study of land sales. While not very frequent, these transactions created a relation between a buyer and a seller. At first, the analysis of these networks show that they formed a cellular tissue, closely confined within the borders of a neighborhood within which intraparental relationships were essential. However, beyond this horizon of daily life, rural actors also rubbed shoulders with the urban bourgeoisie, and at times even broke free from the yoke of village life by meeting with individuals from remote cities, French or foreign. |
