| Summary, etc. | RésuméLe questionnement sur l’origine du bocage est récurrent en histoire rurale. Le cas de la Haute-Marche, entre Berry et Limousin, apporte quelques réponses sur l’apparition de réseaux de haies, utilisés pour séparer cultures, bétail et fourrage. Cette lente structuration apparaît d’abord autour des métairies, solides exploitations agricoles démembrées des réserves seigneuriales, au xve siècle. Cette nouvelle configuration des paysages et des productions s’explique par le contexte de reconstruction rurale. La pénétration progressive des métairies et des haies s’effectue du nord-ouest vers le sud-est, du xve au xvie siècle. Seules les zones les plus élevées échappent à cette conversion et restent des landes ouvertes cultivées par des serfs. |

| Summary, etc. | For rural historians, the origins of the bocageis a recurring issue. The case of the Haute-Marche area, located between Berry and Limousin, could throw some light on the origins of networks of hedges designed to segregate crops, cattle and feedingstuffs. The slow organization of this system was first observed around sharecropping farms, well-established agricultural concerns created when seignorial demesnes were dismembered during the 15th century. This context of rural reconstruction explains the new configuarion of landscapes and products. Both sharecropping farms and hedges slowly spread from the nort-west to the south-east over the 15th and 16th centuries. Only the highest lands escaped conversion into bocage and remained open moors cultivated by serfs. |

| Summary, etc. | ResumenLa cuestión del origen del bocage es recurrente en la historiografía rural. El ejemplo de la Haute-Marche, entre Berry y Lemosín, aporta algunas respuestas a propósito de la aparición de las redes de setos, utilizadas para separar cultivos, ganados y pastos. Esta lenta estructuración aparece primero cerca de las grandes fincas en aparcería, anchas explotaciones desmembradas de las reservas señoriales en el siglo xv. El contexto de reconstrucción rural permite explicar esta nueva configuración de paisajes y producciones. El avance progresivo de la aparcería y de los setos se hace del noroeste hacia el sureste, del siglo xv al xvi. Solo las zonas más altas donde dominan los montes cultivados por siervos no siguen este modelo. |
