520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. On November 8th a megafire destroyed seven towns and villages in the Sierra Nevada, northern California, killing 85 people and burning to the grown 19 000 human structures and 62 000 hectares of forest. The two biggest ones, Paradise and Magalia, counted more than 40 000 inhabitants and were developped on the suburban model. Based on ethnographic fieldwork directed between 2019 and 2021 for a doctoral research in anthropology, this paper focuses on the single family home as a historical, symbolical and material figure and shows that despite the destruction of multiple homes, the single family home still performs an attachement to social statute and hierarchy.
