Si sa situation socio-économique reste favorablement orientée, le ressenti exprimé par la population est lui plutôt négatif sous une forme en apparence similaire à ce que l’on observe dans les pays occidentaux. Les situations sont effectivement comparables sur certains points, mais le « sentiment de déclassement » observé au Japon semble d’une nature particulière, ce qui a pour conséquence des réactions sociales et politiques très différentes de celles observées en Europe ou aux Etats-Unis. |

If its socio-economic situation remains favorably oriented, the feeling expressed by the population is rather negative in a form apparently similar to that observed in Western countries. The situations are indeed comparable on some points, but the “feeling of declining social status” observed in Japan seems of a particular nature, which results in social and political reactions very different from those observed in Europe or the United States. |
