| Summary, etc. | Dans cet article, nous abordons la question de savoir comment s'expriment les discours nationalistes et populistes des partis populistes de droite radicale lorsqu'ils coopèrent au niveau européen. Comme "cas crucial", nous étudions le groupe Identité et Démocratie, qui a été formé après les élections européennes de 2019 et représente le plus fort rassemblement de partis populistes de droite radicale dans l'histoire du Parlement européen. Nous proposons un cadre analytique qui distingue différents types de discours nationalistes et populistes du point de vue de leurs dimensions internationales. Empiriquement, nous explorons la rhétorique des membres du groupe Identité et Démocratie au cours de la première moitié de la législature actuelle du Parlement européen (2019-2021), en appliquant une analyse de contenu qualitative sur un échantillon de 153 discours. Notre analyse identifie un retrait du groupe Identité et Démocratie par rapport au récit populiste de droite radicale bien connu de "Mon pays d'abord". Au lieu de cela, nous montrons que les formes internationalisées de l'adresse au(x) peuple(s) d'Europe constituent la plus grande part de la rhétorique populiste et nationaliste d'Identité et Démocratie. |

| Summary, etc. | In this article, we address the question of how the nationalist and populist discourses of populist radical right parties are expressed when they cooperate at the European level. As a crucial case, we investigate the Identity and Democracy Group, which was formed after the 2019 European elections and represents the strongest assembly of radical right populist parties in the history of the European Parliament. We propose an analytical framework that distinguishes between different types of nationalist and populist discourses regarding their international dimensions. Empirically, we explore the rhetoric of members of the Identity and Democracy Group during the first half of the current European Parliament legislature (2019-2021), applying qualitative content analysis on a sample of 153 speeches. Our analysis identifies a withdrawal of the Identity and Democracy Group from the well-known radical right populist narrative of ‘My Country First’. Instead, we show that internationalised forms of addressing the people(s) of Europe make up the greatest share of Identity and Democracy’s populist and nationalist rhetoric. |
