520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Childhood psychiatric disorders are poorly understood and are diagnosed late in Senegal, in particular Autism Spectrum Disorders, which are too often the subject of stigmatization. The objective of this study was to search for epidemiological, clinical, and cultural factors for the management of Autism Spectrum Disorders in the child psychiatry unit at the Fann National Hospital in Dakar. This was a descriptive, retrospective study over a period of 3 years from January 2014 to December 2016 carried out in the child psychiatry department of Fann. It is based on the medical files of children who came for consultation during this period.Acceptance of the diagnosis by the parents is difficult in Senegal. Most of them, from their first interviews, put forward cultural, religious, or even mystical explanations for their child’s pathology. Many of them did not accept outpatient care and did not return to consultations because of denial of the diagnosis or because they considered that internment was the solution, or that the follow-up required commitment and time that they did not have.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
