| Summary, etc. | L’enseignement scientifique à l’école et, surtout, son déploiement auprès de générations entières ont contribué à faire de l’école un lieu dans lequel se joue une partie des rapports entre sciences et société. Un double objectif – assurer le recrutement de quelques-uns et la transmission d’une culture à tous – constitue depuis plusieurs décennies une des justifications principales de cet enseignement. Cet article en analyse les reformulations récentes et en étudie certaines concrétisations en se focalisant sur le discours européen en matière d’éducation et d’enseignement scientifique, puis en confrontant ce discours à des contenus d’enseignement, saisis dans trois contextes nationaux différents via des manuels scolaires. Ce faisant, il montre que si, dans l’ensemble, une place privilégiée reste attribuée à la science comme institution, les transformations des dernières décennies tendent à influencer l’enseignement scientifique d’une manière non univoque: des approches nationales différentes sont proposées pour former les futurs citoyens. |

| Summary, etc. | With the generalization of science teaching, school has become a place of science and society interplay. Securing the recruitment of scientific manpower and transmitting a scientific culture is a double aim that has justified scientific teaching for several decades. In this article, the author studies the recent reformulation of this double aim. To do so, the author focuses on the European discourse on education and scientific teaching in a first part, and, in a second part, studies how educational materials such as textbooks echo this discourse in three different national contexts. This analysis shows that science remains introduced as a favored activity and way of thinking. Despite this common trait, recent changes tend to influence science teaching and various approaches are proposed in the scrutinized countries in order to educate future citizens.JEL Codes: I29 |
