Summary, etc. “Enforced disappearance” is a crime against humanity, sadly known during Latin American dictatorships. In this case study, we explored the subjective experience of a political refugee facing the loss of his ex-girlfriend, who disappeared more than forty years ago in Argentina. We explore, on the one hand, how living in exile, may or may not facilitate the process of establishing the truth and, on the other hand, the repercussions that exile generates on the experience of loss. In exile, relatives of a disappeared person are confronted with a triple loss: the beloved person, the ideals and the homeland. In addition, we highlighted that this crime can be considered as a damage of narcissistic contracts (Aulagnier, 1976 ; Kaës, 2009b).
