| Summary, etc. | RésuméLa contraception masculine médicalisée, incarnée souvent par la « pilule pour l’homme », reste depuis plus de quarante ans à l’état d’une promesse médicale. Elle suscite peu de débats dans l’espace public et elle est caractérisée par une forte méconnaissance collective, voire une méfiance. Il s’agit en quelque sorte d’un objet « virtuel » qui, néanmoins, véhicule un imaginaire riche de projections autour de son modus operandi, son action, son efficacité et des changements possibles provoqués sur le plan des rapports sociaux de genre. Les résultats d’une étude psychosociale qualitative montrent l’ancrage de ses modes d’action dans l’univers de la contraception féminine, les craintes imaginaires qu’elle mobilise, aussi bien chez les hommes que chez les femmes, la menace qu’elle représente pour la virilité, la puissance masculine, l’équilibre sensible des rôles sociaux. |

| Summary, etc. | Medicalized male contraception, often embodied in the « pill for man », remains for more than forty years in a state of medical promise. It causes few debates in the public sphere and it is characterized by a strong collective lack of knowledge, even a suspicion. It represents to some extent a « virtual » object which, nevertheless, conveys a rich imaginative world formed by projections about its modus operandi, its action, its efficacy and the possible social changes caused on gender relations. The results of a qualitative psychosocial study show the anchoring of its effects in the universe of female contraception, the imaginary fears which it mobilizes, as well among men and women, the threat which it represents for masculinity, the male power, the delicate balance of social roles. |
