| Summary, etc. | Cet article examine l’évolution de l’approche plus économique dans l’application des règles de concurrence au sein de l’Union européenne. En retraçant les étapes clés de cette évolution et en la comparant avec le modèle américain, nous analysons comment les enseignements de l’économie industrielle ont été intégrés dans le droit de la concurrence européen. Nous explorons également la mise en œuvre concrète de cette approche dans le cadre de l’encadrement des aides publiques, du contrôle des concentrations et des pratiques anticoncurrentielles. Enfin, nous discutons des défis actuels, notamment ceux posés par l’économie numérique, et de l’avenir de l’approche plus économique face aux nouvelles préoccupations sociétales. |

| Summary, etc. | This article examines the evolution of the “more economic approach” in the enforcement of competition rules within the European Union. By tracing the key stages of this development and comparing it with the US model, we analyze how insights from industrial economics have been incorporated into European competition law. We also investigate the practical implementation of this approach in the domains of state aid control, merger review, and antitrust enforcement. Finally, we discuss current challenges—most notably those arising from the digital economy—and consider the future of this more economic approach in light of emerging societal concerns. |
