| Summary, etc. | RésuméDans cette recherche, nous avons comparé les différences et les similitudes dans les pratiques éducatives parentales au sein de trois pays différents : la France, le Japon et la Chine. Quatre styles de pratiques éducatives parentales ont été prises en compte : le contrôle parental, l’expression de l’affection, le conflit parents-enfants et l’encouragement à l’autonomie de l’enfant. Notre recherche a été effectuée à l’aide d’un questionnaire distribué aux parents dans les écoles primaires. Trois groupes culturels de 271 parents d’enfants entre 7 et 11 ans sont concernés par cette enquête : 100 Français vivant en France, 71 Japonais vivant au Japon et 100 Chinois vivant en Chine. Deux constats s’imposent : d’une part, la diversité des styles de pratiques éducatives parentales selon la culture et la société à laquelle les parents appartiennent, d’autre part, des similitudes entre les trois groupes culturels étudiés. |

| Summary, etc. | Child-rearing practices between France, Japon and ChinaThis study compares the differences and similarities in the 4 styles of child-rearing practices: parental control, expression of affection, parent-child conflict, and encouragement of independence in three societies: France, Japan and China. The parents were asked to respond to a questionnaire about parenting which was distributed and collected by the head-master of primary school. Subjects in this study were 271 parents in total: 100 French, 71 Japanese and 100 Chinese parents of 9 to 11 year-old children enrolled in primary school in France, Japan and China. Both culture-general and culture-specific aspects of parental attitudes and child-rearing practices emerged. The findings of this study indicated cultural variations in child-rearing attitudes and practices among French, Japanese and Chinese parents. However, some crosscultural similarities were also noted. |
