| Summary, etc. | La Taille en Normandie ... de Edmond Esmonin (1913) reste l’ouvrage de référence pour les rapports entre l’État, une province et les communautés de contribuables. Fondé sur la correspondance entre les intendants et Colbert, il n’avait guère pris en compte un ensemble de registres des villages qui était pourtant un type documentaire propre au xviie siècle et à la Normandie. Le registre des délibérations de Camembert (Orne) est avec celui de Mondeville (Calvados) le seul qui a été entièrement étudié. À partir de l’exemple de Camembert, l’article expose les spécificités de ce type documentaire et son intérêt. Les « consentements » ou délibérations permettent d’étudier toutes les difficultés rencontrées pour « asseoir » (répartir) et « cueillir » (collecter) la taille, ainsi que les solutions apportées par les rustres seuls à ces difficultés. Le système normand de l’octroi, qui figeait les domiciles fiscaux, y compliquait la taille. Sa disparition vers 1670 expliquerait celle du type documentaire. |

| Summary, etc. | A Reference : The tax deliberations of Camembert (17th Century)Edmond Esmonin’s La Taille en Normandie (1913) remains the reference on relations between the State, a province and tax payers. It is based on the correspondence between Colbert and provincial Intendants but neglects village registers, which are a specific type of document in Normandy in the seventeenth century. The registers of Camembert (Orne) and Mondeville (Calvados) were studied. That of Camembert reveals the interest of such a document. The deliberations enable the study of the difficulties encountered to distribute and to collect taxes and how peasants solved the problem by themselves. The Norman system of octroi, which established the taxation base, made the collection of the taille more difficult and its disappearance in the 1670s mark the end of these documents. |
