Selon Thucydide, la fondation de Mégara Hyblea est le résultat des négociations menées par les Mégariens avec le roi sicule Hyblôn, après l’échec de l’union politique avec les Chalcidiens à Léontinoi. L’article vise à étudier les relations entre Grecs et non-Grecs, ainsi que l’expansion territoriale de Mégara Hyblaea à l’époque archaïque. L’analyse porte sur les récits de colonisation et s’interroge sur la collaboration entre les Mégariens de Sicile et de Grèce dans le mouvement d’expansion vers la Sicile sud-occidentale, qui aboutit, dans la seconde moitié du viie siècle avant J.-C., à la fondation de Sélinonte. |

According to Thucydides, the foundation of Megara Hyblaia is the result of negotiations between the Megarians and the Sikel king Hyblon, after the failure of political union with the Chalkidians at Leontinoi. The article studies the relations between Greeks and non-Greek populations, as well as the territorial expansion of Megara during the Archaic period. The analysis focusses on the colonization stories and discuss the collaboration between Megarians from Sicily and those from Greece for the expansion to the south-west of Sicily, that led, in the second half of the 7th century BC, to the foundation of Selinous. |
