| Summary, etc. | Resumen: Este trabajo examina la importancia de los rumores y la desinformación durante el periodo de expansión romano-republicano (siglos III-I a. C.), centrándose en la profusión de este fenómeno en las esferas militar y diplomática de la res publica. A través de un análisis de fuentes que se sirve de una selección de casos escogidos, se abordan sus implicaciones en cuanto a la toma de decisiones y su valor estratégico. Por otro lado, se plantean nuevas lecturas más amplias de los materiales histórico-literarios con que contamos, poniendo en valor la trascendencia del rumor en la generación de mecanismos discursivos al servicio del expansionismo romano, en los que el recurso a la desinformación se inserta tendenciosamente en el relato de la Urbs. |

Furthermore, it offers broader and new interpretations of the historical-literary materials available, emphasizing the importance of rumors in generating discursive mechanisms that supported Roman expansionism, where the use of disinformation is deliberately woven into the narrative of the Urbs. |

| Summary, etc. | RésuméRésumé : Cet ouvrage examine l’importance des rumeurs et de la désinformation pendant la période d’expansion romaine républicaine (iiie-ier siècles avant J.-C.), en se concentrant sur la profusion de ce phénomène dans les sphères militaire et diplomatique de la res publica. À travers une analyse des sources s’appuyant sur une sélection de cas choisis, il aborde leurs implications en termes de prise de décision et de sa valeur stratégique. D’autre part, de nouvelles lectures plus larges des documents historiques et littéraires disponibles sont proposées, mettant en valeur l’importance de la rumeur dans la génération de mécanismes discursifs au service de l’expansionnisme romain, dans lesquels le recours à la désinformation s’insère de manière tendancieuse dans le récit de l’Urbs. |
