| Summary, etc. | RésuméLe dialecte alsacien a représenté, pendant tout le xixe et la première partie du xxe siècle, l’élément majeur de la culture et de l’identité régionales. Il s’agissait à la fois d’une culture vécue au quotidien par la pratique de la langue, et de son expression savante à travers diverses formes littéraires. Mais l’on constate que, depuis la fin de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, l’usage du dialecte décline lentement, tandis que son inspiration littéraire s’affaiblit malgré l’intervention active des nouveaux médias. De plus, ce dialecte spécifique a été remplacé par l’allemand dans les revendications d’autonomie politique à caractère linguistique et leurs applications dans l’enseignement. Il devient alors de plus en plus difficile, voire peu efficace, de militer en Alsace pour une culture dialectale. |

| Summary, etc. | The Alsatian dialect represented throughout the 19th and in the first part of the 20th century the main element of regional culture and identity. It was both a culture that was lived daily by the practice of the language and a scholarly culture expressed in various litterary forms. But since the end of the Second World War the use of the dialect is slowly declining and its litterary inspiration is failing in spite of an active support of the new media. Moreover, the dialect is being replaced by German in demands for linguistic autonomy, more especially in education. For these reasons militating in favour of a dialectal culture in Alsace is more and more difficult or even useless. |

| Summary, etc. | ZusammenfassungWährend des ganzen 19. Jahrhunderts und der ersten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts stellte der elsässische Dialekt das Hauptelement der regionalen Kultur und Identität dar. Es handelte sich zugleich dabei um eine Alltagskultur, die durch die Praxis der Sprache weiterlebte und um eine gelehrte Kultur, die sich in verschiedenen litterarischen Formen ausdrückte. Seit dem Ende des zweiten Weltkrieges wird aber der Dialekt weniger gebraucht, während sich seine litterarische Inspiration trotz einer aktiven Unterstützung der neuen Medien erschöpft. Daher wird es mehr und mehr schwierig und sogar nutzlos, für eine dialektale Kultur in Elsass zu kämpfen. |
