| Summary, etc. | RésuméDans le cadre de l’Appellation d’origine protégée ( aop) des produits agricoles, l’État grec a demandé la protection du fromage feta. Les actions menées par d’autres États membres de l’Union européenne ( ue) contre la demande grecque ont eu pour effet de donner à la question de la feta en Grèce des proportions considérables. Cette situation a incité la presse grecque, ainsi que certaines institutions et médias officiels, à faire de cette question une revendication nationale, en la reliant à deux autres de même type : l’usage du terme de « Macédoine » et la revendication du rapatriement des marbres du Parthénon actuellement au British Museum. Ainsi, la procédure de protection de la feta auprès de l’ ue a-t-elle été vécue en termes de « bataille du nom », et de menace d’appropriation du patrimoine culturel grec par des puissances étrangères. La question de la feta est devenue le terrain sur lequel la nation grecque a négocié son identité au sein de l’Europe. Ainsi, l’ aop, dispositif chargé de renforcer les régions sur les plans culturel et économique en favorisant leur rencontre en douceur avec des pays membres de l’ ue, s’est changée en organe d’expression du nationalisme. |

| Summary, etc. | Within the framework of the Protected Designation of Origin ( pdo) labellling of agricultural products Greece has requested the protection of feta cheese. But as other member states of the European Union ( eu) were against Greece’s request this issue reached considerable proportions. The Greek press and some official institutions and media even turned it into a national claim similar to those relative to the use of the term « Macedonia » and the repatriation of the Parthenon marble sculptures from the British Museum. As a result the pdo labelling request for feta cheese at the eu was experienced as a « name battle » and a threat that Greek patrimony be appropriated by foreign powers. Greece used the feta cheese problem as a basis for negotiating its identity within Europe. So the pdo label that was supposed to reinforce regions culturally and economically and facilitate the convergence of eu’s member countries became a vehicle for one expression of nationalism. |

| Summary, etc. | ZusammenfassungIm Rahmen der geprüften Herkunftsbezeichnung der Agrarerzeugnissen hat Griechenland die Schützung der Fetakäse beantragt. Aber infolge der Opposition anderer Mitgliedsstaaten der Europäischen Union ( eu) zum Griechenlands Antrag nahm diese Frage beträchtliche Ausmasse an. Daraus ergab sich, dass die griechische Presse sowie gewisse offizielle Institutionen und Medien diese Frage zu einer nationalen Aufforderung machten, ähnlich wie die der Verwendung des Namens « Makedoniens » und der Forderung nach der Repatriierung der Parthenon-Marmorfiguren aus dem Britisch Museum. So wurde der Fetaschützungsprozess bei der eu als einen « Namensstreit » und eine Drohung empfunden, dass sich fremde Mächte das griechische Kulturerbe aneignen könnten. So wurde die geprüfte Herkunftsbezeichnung, die die Regionen kulturell und wirtschaftlich verstärken sollte, indem sie ihren sanften Wettkampf mit anderen eu’s Mitgliedsstaaten erleichtern sollten, zu nationalisten Zwecken instrumentalisiert. |
