| Summary, etc. | RésuméÀ l’époque où La Poste a vu son statut évoluer vers celui d’établissement autonome, l’auteur initie une recherche nourrie par l’exercice du métier de facteur durant deux ans (1990-1992) dans la partie pyrénéenne de l’Ariège. Dans ce milieu rural relativement isolé, le facteur n’est pas seulement un employé de La Poste, mais un « domestique » au service de la collectivité. Ainsi, il fait le lien, pour le compte des familles, entre elles et le bureau de poste. Il met en évidence certains gestes (faire signer des documents, faire l’avance de certains paiements), ce qui lui vaut, en échange, de recevoir la « pièce ». Dans ce contexte, ce métier échappe à sa définition strictement institutionnelle et, plus encore, aux perspectives d’évolution vers des fonctions plus commerciales. |

| Summary, etc. | In a time when the post office is evolving toward an autonomous institution, the author initiates a research work on the occupation of rural postman that he exerted during two years (1990-92) in the Pyrenean Ariège region. In this relatively isolated rural environment the postman is not only a postal worker, but a « servant » in the service of the collectivity. He makes the bond between families and the post office, carries out some steps (signing of documents, advance of payments) for which he is rewarded with a tip. By doing this he oversteps the limits of his job strictly defined by the institution and even more defies its prospects of evolution to more commercial functions. |

| Summary, etc. | ZusammenfassungIn einer Zeit, wo die Postinstitution auf dem Weg der Autonomie ist, unternimmt der Autor eine Forschung über den Beruf des ländlichen Briefträgers, den er zwei Jahre lang in der pyrenäischen Region der Ariège ausgeübt hat. In dieser verhältnismässig abgelegenen Umwelt ist der Briefträger nicht nur ein Postbeamter, sondern auch ein Dienstbote, der im Dienste der Allgemeinheit steht. Er ist das Bindeglied zwischen den Familien und das Postamt. Er unternimmt für sie gewisse Schritte (Unterzeichnung von Dokumenten, Vorauszahlungen), wofür er ein Trinkgeld bekommt. Dadurch geht er über die streng institutionellen Grenzen seines Berufs hinaus und mehr noch wirkt den Perspektiven einer mehr kommerziellen Entwicklung dieser Institution entgegen. |
