Interrogeant l’histoire de ces statues et les représentations sexuées dont elles sont porteuses, l’auteur examine les raisons de l’engouement qu’elles ont suscité, en le mettant en rapport avec le mythe qui les a fait naître. Ces statues qui incarnent le Paris féminin populaire sont aujourd’hui une précieuse trace d’une histoire des rapports sociaux de genre. |

Images of Working-Class Girls in Parisian GardensAt the end of the xixth century, the young garment makers, the “midinettes”, used to stroll in Parisian public gardens and three statues which embody them have been erected in gardens situated on the right bank of the Seine. The author analyses the history of these statues and the gendered representations to which they are attached, then explains why they were then fancied, in relation with their founding myth. Nowadays, these statues which personify a popular and feminine Paris, stand as an heritage of a past history of gendered roles. |

Der Autor blickt auf die Geschichte der Statuen und auf ihre sexualisierte Bedeutung, untersucht die Beliebtheit der sie sich erfreuen und hinterfragt den Mythos, der sie umgibt. Die Statuen, die das weibliche Paris verkörpern sind heute eine wertvolle historische Quelle der Geschichte der Geschlechterbeziehungen. |
