| Summary, etc. | Alfred Levitt (1894-2000), artiste peintre new-yorkais, juif d’origine ukrainienne, fit plusieurs séjours d’étude dans le sud de la France dans les années 1950 et 1960 où il découvrit la pétanque. Il fonda le premier club de New York en 1968 ( lbny) et s’engagea dans le développement institutionnel de la pétanque au niveau national en créant et en présidant pendant treize ans la Fédération de Pétanque des usa (fpusa). Le caractère exceptionnel de son parcours tient à son entregent auprès des institutions pour développer un sport alors méconnu des Américains. |

The Painter and The Pétanque Alfred Levitt (1894-2000), New Yorker painter, jew originating from Ukraine, spent several stays in the south of France during the 50s and 60s, where he discovered the pétanque game. He founded the first New York pétanque club in 1968 ( lbny) and committed himself to the institutional development of pétanque at national level creating and chairing during 13 years the fpusa (Federation of Pétanque usa). The exceptional nature of his path comes from his interpersonal skills among the institutions to develop a sport unknown to American people at this time. |

| Summary, etc. | Alfred Levitt (1894-2000), artista pintor neoyorkino, judío de origen ucraniano, hizo varias estancias de estudio en el Sur de Francia en los años 1950 y 1960 donde descubrió la petanca. Fundó el primer club de Nueva-York en 1968 ( lbny) y se comprometió en el desarrollo institucional de la petanca a nivel nacional, creando y presidiendo durante trece años la Federación de Petanca de los USA ( fpusa). El carácter excepcional de su trayectoria se debe a su atrevimiento hacia las instituciones para desarrollar un deporte entonces poco conocido por los Americanos. |

| Summary, etc. | Alfred Levitt (1894-2000), ein Maler und Künstler aus New York, Jude ukrainischer Herkunft, verbrachte in den sechziger und siebziger Jahren mehrere Studienaufenthalte in Südfrankreich. Während dieser Aufenthalte lernte er das Boulespiel kennen. Er gründete 1968 den ersten Klub in New York ( lbny) und setzte sich für die institutionelle Entwicklung des Boulespiels auf nationaler Ebene ein, indem er den Verein des Boulespiel in den USA ( fpusa) gründete, dem er 13 Jahre vorsaß. Sein außergewöhnlicher Lebensweg ist durch seine Fähigkeit begründet, die Institutionen einzubinden, um einen den Amerikanern unbekannten Sport weiterzuentwickeln. |
