L’article analyse la superposition de plusieurs logiques discursives et morales ainsi que les mises en scène cérémonielles, architecturales et monumentales qui ont accompagné l’accès de cet ancien comptoir négrier au statut de petite capitale cosmopolite d’une histoire progressivement transformée en bien culturel. |

The Accumulation of Memories in the Ancient Slavery Post of Ouidah For thirty years, the coastal town of Ouidah in Southern Benin has been in a process of heritagization of voodoo cults and slavery past. The article analyses the overlapping discursive and moral logics as well as the ceremonial, architectural, monumental exposures at work in this process. It shows how Ouidah transformed itself from an ancient slavery post to a small cosmopolitan capital city in which history is turned into a cultural resource. |
