| Summary, etc. | Après avoir été respectivement mis en circulation en Angleterre au XVIIe siècle et en France au XIXe siècle, les syntagmes « reflexivity » et « réflexivité » entament dans la première moitié du XXe siècle des trajectoires qui bien que largement différentes, n’en sont pas moins structurées. Alors que le terme de « reflexivity » est principalement utilisé dans une tradition de recherche positiviste logique, celui de « réflexivité » circule au sein d’une philosophie du sujet s’imposant progressivement dans les humanités françaises. Il faut donc attendre une période en fait assez récente, celle de l’après-guerre, pour que les usages en sciences sociales de la « réflexivité » tels que nous les connaissons actuellement commencent à se créer dans une circulation complexe entre espaces académiques de langues française et anglaise. |

| Summary, etc. | Following their introduction in seventeenth-century England and nineteenth-century France, “reflexivity” and “ réflexivité” embarked on two different, yet structured, trajectories in the early twentieth century. While the term “reflexivity” was mainly used in logical positivism, “ réflexivité” was primarily associated with the French humanities and a philosophy of the subject. The concept of reflexivity, as we understand it today, only emerged in the post-war period through a complex exchange between English- and French-speaking academic circles. |
