| Summary, etc. | La prescription des antibiotiques chez les équidés est un acte courant qui ne doit pas être banalisé dans sa forme. L’adoption récente du règlement européen sur les médicaments vétérinaires a quelque peu modifié les règles de prescription et de délivrance de ces médicaments, en particulier sur la gestion de la cascade et des temps d’attente. Par ailleurs, d’autres cadres règlementaires, qu’ils soient nationaux ou européens (antibiotiques critiques ou substances essentielles des équidés), modifient les pratiques d’antibiothérapie chez ces espèces. Le prescripteur se doit donc de bien maîtriser ces enjeux pour pouvoir traiter les chevaux tout en préservant l’efficacité de cette classe thérapeutique et en garantissant la sécurité des consommateurs éventuels. |

| Summary, etc. | Prescription of antimicrobials in equines is a daily procedure that still needs to respect adequate rules. The adoption of the European Regulation on veterinary drugs changed several aspects of the prescription and dispensation of these drugs, particularly regarding on the cascade rule or the withdrawal times. Similarly, several other national or European regulations (critical antibiotics or essential substances for Equidae) recently modified the way French veterinarians can use antibiotics in horses. The prescriber must therefore be fully aware of these issues, to be able to treat horses while preserving the efficacy of this therapeutic class and guarantee the safety of potential consumers. |
