| Summary, etc. | Résumé La présente étude a pour objet de retracer l’histoire juridique du principe de l’égale admissibilité aux emplois publics affirmé par l’article 6 de la Déclaration des droits de l’homme et du citoyen du 26 août 1789 jusqu’à aujourd’hui, particulièrement dans ses tout récents développements. Elle examine comment ce principe a été interprété, quelles en ont été les principales implications quant aux modalités de recrutement dans la fonction publique et quelles ont été les garanties qui ont été apportées pour rendre effective cette célèbre promesse révolutionnaire d’égalité. |

| Summary, etc. | Two centuries of the principle of equal access to public sector jobs — The aim of this study is to trace the history of the legal principle of equal entitlement to public sector employment stated in Article 6 of the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen of 26 August 1789 up to today. It examines how this principle has been interpreted, what have been the main implications for civil service recruitment procedures and what have been the guarantees set up in order for this famous revolutionary promise of equality to be effective. |
