520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Women Assemblies : A Clusian Survival of Archaic Family Values. Some relief monuments from Chiusi dating to the early 5th century show two women seated and three standing, the latter holding pieces of cloth. Similar scenes had appeared on Attic black-figure funerary pinakes. It may have something to do with a funeral oration in praise of the weaving skills of the aristocratic dead. The activity may seem quite archaic but the fabrics may have conferred some distinction on members of the ruling class, and the privilege of weaving them confined to women of the aristocracy.
