| Summary, etc. | RésuméDès le xvie siècle, des historiens décrivent certains us et coutumes des populations qui vivent en Suède. Mais c’est sous l’influence des courants nationaux et romantiques qu’une ethnographie suédoise se développe véritablement au xixe siècle. Cette ethnographie s’intéresse d’abord aux traditions orales, puis peu à peu aux modes de vie en général. L’ethnologie devient une discipline universitaire au début du xxe siècle, en liaison étroite avec les musées et le développement rapide de leurs collections centrées sur la culture populaire traditionnelle. Jusque dans les années 1960, ces collections resteront la base de toute la recherche en ethnologie. Puis s’opère un revirement et, délaissant les études historiques, l’ethnologie suédoise déplace son centre d’intérêt vers le monde social et ses enjeux contemporains. Depuis, les théories issues de la recherche en sociologie et en anthropologie sociale dominent largement la discipline. |

| Summary, etc. | Swedish ethnology has its roots in descriptions of popular culture from the 16th century and the centuries to come. In the 19th century the interest for Swedish popular culture was deepened under the influence from romantic and nationalist tides. This interest started with oral traditions, later came an interest for material culture. Ethnology was organized as a university discipline in the beginning of the 20th century, mostly as a consequence of the rapidly growing museum collections around folk culture at that time. These collections were the focus of the Swedish ethnology up to the 1960s. Then a transformation of Swedish ethnology started, where historical studies had to make room for more present day studies and theories from sociology and social anthropology became rather dominant. |

| Summary, etc. | ZusammenfassungDie schwedische Ethnologie beschäftigt sich mit unterschiedlichen Forschungen zu den schwedischen Volksgruppen seit dem 16. Jahrhundert. Das Interesse an den schwedischen Bevölkerungsgruppen entwickelte sich im 19. Jahrhundert unter dem Einfluss nationaler Strömungen der Romantik. Anfangs richtete es sich in erster Linie auf mündliche Traditionen, bevor es sich nach und nach auch auf die Lebensbedingungen ausweitete. Zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts wurde die Ethnologie – oder damals noch die Studien der Volkskunde – dank der schnellen Entwicklung der Sammlungen der Völkerkundemuseen zu einer universitären Disziplin. Bis in die 1960er Jahre hinein bildeten diese Sammlungen die Grundlage der ethnologischen Forschung. Später zeichnete sich eine Interessensverschiebung in der schwedischen Ethnologie ab, weg von den geschichtlichen Studien hin zu einer stärkeren Betonung sozialer Aspekte. Seither dominieren in der schwedischen Forschung soziologische und sozialanthropologische Theorien. |
