| Summary, etc. | RésuméCet article évalue le lien de filiation poétique entre Walt Whitman et Frank O’Hara (1926-1966) sous l’angle du lyrisme. À travers une étude du long poème « In Memory of My Feelings » (1956), la dette à l’égard de Whitman est à la fois soulignée et nuancée. Le sujet lyrique tel que Whitman le conçoit au xixe siècle n’est plus possible après la Seconde Guerre mondiale : grâce à plusieurs références cinématographiques, Frank O’Hara souligne que le rapport du sujet lyrique à l’histoire et à la nation a considérablement évolué. Le « je » d’O’Hara ne contient pas de multitudes, mais s’affirme et se nie dans la chorégraphie de ses avatars. Son lyrisme n’aboutit à aucune unité ontologique, il se déploie dans un mouvement qui n’a d’autre destination que son propre épuisement. |
