| 520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
| Summary, etc. |
| 520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
| Summary, etc. | Although it is mostly set in New York — the city around which everything revolves, the series Sex and the City makes constant reference to France. This is mainly done through Carrie Bradshaw, the main narrator, who happens to be a Francophile. France is repeatedly celebrated for its glamour, class and art de vivre. Besides, the capital of France, Paris, is the location of the finale, the place not only where Carrie’s adventures end but the whole series as well. Such a choice gives the City of Lights special meaning and reveals that the French motif is embedded deeper than one may imagine. This article analyses the clichés about France, the French, and Paris in an attempt to understand and decipher the French and Parisian mythologies conveyed by this successful and critically-acclaimed HBO series. |
