| Summary, etc. | RésuméDans les programmes du français, le terme de connecteur est devenu un terme englobant pour désigner des mots invariables réunis selon des critères sémantiques, voire tout syntagme commutant avec un adverbe à valeur circonstancielle. Etudiés sous forme de listes, les connecteurs n’assument pas leur fonction de guide pour l’interprétation en langue 1.La conscience des apprenants n’étant pas attirée sur le fonctionnement de ces unités hétérogènes en anglais, ces difficultés se retrouvent a fortiori en langue 2. Le filtre préalable de la langue maternelle, joint aux savoirs approximatifs sur le français, conduisent à des relations biunivoques nuisant aux savoir-faire argumentatifs en langue 2, les articulations plaquées apprises en listes prenant parfois le pas sur les contenus des productions. Une réflexion métalinguistique, s’appuyant sur la comparaison des systèmes linguistiques, appellerait la définition progressive de métatermes communs. |

| Summary, etc. | In French L1 syllabuses, the term connector is defined according to semantic criteria and covering invariable words, and even syntagms commuting with adverbial phrases. They are given in lists and thus cannot be really used to interpret L1 texts.L2 learners are not made aware of the functioning of these heterogeneous L2 units, which makes their task even more arduous. The L1 filter compounded by limited awareness of the functioning of L1 thus leads to one-to-one relations that hinder L2 skills especially when items learnt by rote are artificially inserted instead of being used to connect ideas. A unified and contrastive grammatical terminology would allow an efficient metalinguistic awareness. |
