Summary, etc. | Professional beekeepers, often described as “landless farmers”, maintain a complex and close link with the land through their apiaries. Studying where they locate their apiaries brings out the principles governing the territorial underpinnings of professional beekeeping. Drawing on a sociological survey of professional beekeepers in Burgundy, with varying levels of experience, this article helps us understand the strong yet fragile, uncertain, and singular place this activity is obliged negotiate in its highly complex relationships with others and the environment. |
