| Summary, etc. | Cet article se propose d’analyser les variantes successives pour la télévision des Misérables de Victor Hugo, en considérant la notion d’adaptation au sens fort, non seulement comme un résultat mais aussi comme une activité. L’enquête se fonde sur les déclarations d’intentions des auteurs-adaptateurs, en se centrant tout particulièrement sur les figures temporelles qu’ils mobilisent pour caractériser leur démarche. Il s’agit d’analyser comment l’évolution des modalités d’interpolation des temporalités les conduit à transformer les ressorts d’action de leurs personnages, rendant ainsi, du fait de la résistance du texte original, plus visibles les tensions, contradictions, apories des modèles anthropologiques qui, successivement, les habitent. |

The seven faces of Les Misérables In this article which examines the successive TV adaptations of Victor Hugo’s Les Misérables, the notion of adaptation is considered not only as a result but also as an activity. The study is based on the stated intentions of author-adapters, with a particular focus on the temporal figures that they mobilize to characterize their approach. The author analyses how the evolution of the modalities of interpolation of temporalities leads these author-adapters to transform the motivations of their characters’action. Due to the resistance of the original text, the tensions, contradictions and aporia of the anthropological models that successively inhabit them are highlighted. |
