| Summary, etc. | RésuméL’article s’emploie dans un premier temps à poser la difficulté d’une définition scientifique de l’« extrême droite » en soulignant qu’il s’agit d’une controverse pluridisciplinaire de longue haleine. Si le débat vu de l’étranger est abordé, une attention particulière est portée au cas français en s’attachant à la typologie rémondienne et à sa remise en cause par l’historiographie française récente (Olivier Tort, Gilles Richard). La seconde partie de l’article dresse un tableau de l’historiographie française, florissante, sur le sujet de « l’extrême droite » depuis une décennie. Elle privilégie quatre registres : le renouveau des sources observé à partir de la publication d’éditions critiques de documents, la production de biographies sur des figures aux statuts divers, l’accent mis sur les organisations et la militance abordées à partir d’échelles variées et d’angles d’approches nouveaux comme le genre et enfin l’intérêt marqué pour prendre en considération les regards, les comparaisons et les transferts et les enjeux mémoriels. |

| Summary, etc. | AbstractThe article begins by addressing the difficulty of providing a scientific definition of the “far right”, emphasizing that this is a long-standing multidisciplinary controversy. While the debate as seen from abroad is addressed, particular attention is paid to the French case, focusing on Rémond’s typology and its questioning by recent French historiography (Olivier Tort, Gilles Richard). The second part of the article provides an overview of the flourishing French historiography on the subject of the “far right” over the past decade. It focuses on four areas: the revival of sources observed since the publication of critical editions of documents; the production of biographies on figures of various statuses; the emphasis on organizations and militancy approached from various scales and new angles, such as gender; and finally, the marked interest in taking into consideration perspectives, comparisons, transfers and issues of memory. |
