Le recours aux « stimulants » révèle les représentations associées à l’exercice du pouvoir, notamment sous le régime de la ive République, mais aussi les conditions concrètes du métier politique et du travail militant. L’article décrit les conséquences sur la santé physique et mentale de certains responsables politiques, l’héritage d’habitudes acquises dans la Résistance, ainsi que la diffusion de ces médicaments parmi les militants communistes. |

The use of “stimulants” reveals the representations associated with the exercise of power, particularly under the Fourth Republic, but also the concrete conditions of the political profession and militant work. The article describes the consequences for the physical and mental health of certain political leaders, the legacy of habits acquired during the Resistance, and the spread of these drugs among Communist activists. |
